After the disturbing sandal post from this morning, today I give you some eye (foot?) candy:
Top to bottom: Vintage leather flats from Kmalinka Vintage, Marais USA faux leather criss-cross sandals (on sale!), Vintage Rainbow sandals from Sally Lou Vintage.
Also, for other vintage shoes Pineapple Mint is having a shoe sale.

LOVE the last ones. so gorgeous!

Yeah they're super fun aren't they. I do have a similar pair of my own which I bought second hand to wear to a Mexican themed party - not really sure if that makes sense?
ReplyDeleteI like the second pair. What are your thoughts on faux leather? Most of the time it is made of vinyl which isn't good for the environment either.
ReplyDeleteHey Sara,
ReplyDeleteYou're right.
I'm still not 100% sold on plastic and vinyl shoes being an alternative to leather. I've posted about that here: http://www.definingduo.com/2010/03/thinking-twice-about-leather.html
But I can't find enough facts to support that synthetic is better than leather, which is surprising given that what I know about leather is pretty bad (see the post).
At the moment I'm all about moderation - buying only what I need, second hand where possible and avoiding mass produced leather.
What's hard for me personally is that I really love leather shoes as they last longer and fit better on my narrow feet. So I'm always hunting for local vintage leather.
Truth be told, I wouldn't buy any of these shoes (they're just eye candy to me!) as they're all in the US. And no matter what I buy, the environmental impact of the shipping is a big turn off.
Hope that answers your question :)
thanks x
That last pair is so fun!
ReplyDeleteI agree Kristin, great for a summer party.
